Island Top with Cook Top Range Description

Island (http://maplered.com) Top with Cook Top Range

We have an order for an island (http://maplered.com) out of Ubatuba that is 79 1/2" x 75 1/2". The caveat' is that it has a Cook top cut out (with a down draft) in the corner that has a 2 1/2" bridge (rail) on two sides.

Potential problems:
I will have to rod the bridge(s) at a right angle. Will this defeat the purpose of the rods?

I cannot execute the cut-out on the CNC (not enough room for pods), but if I cut it out after the CNC, My fear is that I will open fissures the bridges. If I cut the cook top first, I will open fissures putting the edge (bull nose) on.

Is it acceptable in the industry to seam these small pieces in instead of attempting to execute a cutout? The challenge is that the outside corner of the island (http://maplered.com) will not have enough support for the seams (or will there?)

Help,
Gabe
